It’s start in November 1996 when Arnaud (guitar), just come out from a year in a music school (called CMCN in Nancy, France), decided with Christophe (drums) to contact musicians to rise a metal band.

Coming forward, Anthony (guitar) met by Arnaud in CMCN and Phillipe (bass) by small ads .BLAST was born !

 

Starting to work in a stage perspective, the band planned a covers’ repertoire whithout finding a real singer.

First 1997, to be allowed to take part in contest, BLAST recorded three songs (“Two Hundred and More”, “Deadly Bite” et “Time of Remorse”) where Anthony sang.

The idea to find a lead singer faded and the work was done in relation to Anthony’s voice .Songs became more heavy .The band worked, until end of 1997, mainly on covers (Metallica, Paradise Lost, Megadeth, etc...) till having a three hour set list; compositions continued to arrive little by little.

 

First 1998 will start badly with the leaving of Christophe; cause : musical divergences ; BLAST turned towards a style more “modern” (Machine Head, Sepultura).

It’s Thibaut (Arnaud’s brother) who took the place and, by is much wide play, let BLAST to revise repertoire and get back compositions at the beginning by adapting them to drum.

 

In April 1998 BLAST recorded is first demo tape called “Under Dust” : “God’s Hand”, “Deadly Bite”, “Pain Decided”, “Two Hundred and More”, “Poor’s Insanity” et “Under Dust”.

After some summer concerts to let Thibaut get into its stride and the latter decided to go in a drum school .The band more or less in stand-by will carry on to work on compositions and recorded, in february 99’, his second demo on CD “Blast” with : “Crashed Headfirst”, “Need You Alive”, “Honesty”, “The Other Side”, “Time of Remorse” et “Walk out on Me”.

This one as well intended for the sale as promotion to pick a maximum of contacts.

 

BLAST hopes manner to interest people, to record a real album for the 2000 year and to leave where he feels better : on stage !
